Let the rummage begin….

“Start selling like your grandma.” This is the tagline for Suitcase Rummage, a unique market that happens one Sunday a month in Reddacliffe Place, opposite the casino in the city. The concept is simple: fill a suitcase or two with anything and everything you no longer want and open them up for people to hunt through.

You can pick up some great bargains and one-of-a-kind pieces, from vintage wears to original artwork and homemade jewellery. There is also the chance to do some haggling if that gives you kicks. And if you really want to get your grandma on, why not bring down some baked goods to sell as well.

A stall holder, Amy set up her suitcases for the first time on Sunday. She decided to register for a stall because “I just had so many things I wanted to get rid of.” Going to Suitcase Rummage is like exploring at several garage sales all at once – you just never know what treasures you will find.

Kate from Tingalpa’s initial visit occurred last weekend too. She was quite intrigued by the markets. “When I first heard about it I thought it was an odd but good concept. Then I attended and found it refreshingly unique.” She even picked up a bargain or two. “I got a cute blazer, a great vintage sewing pattern and some Robert Robert high heels.”

To register for the Rummage visit the website and it will put you back $25. But you will make up for that in sales in no time on the day. The next market is on 1 July – so whether you’re a stall holder or shopper, make sure you attend.
